Structural Steel Pipe & Piling Solutions

Deep foundation pipe piles, structural hollow sections, and tubular columns for port construction, bridges, high-rise buildings, and industrial infrastructure. ASTM A252, EN 10219, and EN 10210 compliant with full structural certification.

Structural & Piling Applications

Steel pipe piles and structural hollow sections are the backbone of modern civil engineering and construction. From the deep foundations that support skyscrapers to the massive piling required for port and bridge construction, Sino East Steel provides the full range of structural steel pipe products with the certifications and quality documentation required by structural engineers and contractors worldwide.

Deep Foundation & Piling

Pipe piles transfer structural loads through weak surface soils to competent bearing strata below. Our ASTM A252 pipe piles are available in Grades 1, 2, and 3 with diameters up to 120 inches for the most demanding foundation requirements. Open-ended piles can be driven through dense soils and filled with concrete for composite action. Closed-ended piles with driving shoes provide maximum end-bearing capacity.

Port & Marine Structures

Port infrastructure — berthing dolphins, mooring piles, fender piles, and jetty structures — requires steel pipe with proven performance in the marine environment. Our large-diameter SSAW and LSAW piles with heavy-duty coatings resist corrosion in the splash zone and submerged zones, providing decades of reliable service under the most aggressive conditions.

Bridge Construction

Bridge piers, abutments, and foundation caissons demand the highest structural integrity. Steel pipe piles for bridge foundations are manufactured with full-length UT testing of welds and certified Charpy impact properties. Combined wall systems using pipe piles and sheet piles create efficient, cost-effective bridge abutments and retaining structures.

High-Rise & Industrial Structures

Tubular steel columns offer superior structural efficiency — higher radius of gyration, better buckling resistance, and clean architectural appearance. Our EN 10219 and EN 10210 structural hollow sections are used in stadiums, airports, exhibition halls, and high-rise buildings where exposed structural steel is a design feature.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ASTM A252 pipe piling?
ASTM A252 is the standard specification for welded and seamless steel pipe piles used in deep foundation applications. It covers three grades (Grade 1, 2, and 3) with increasing minimum yield strength (30 ksi, 35 ksi, and 45 ksi respectively). A252 pipe piles are used for bearing piles, friction piles, and combined wall systems in marine, bridge, and building foundations.
What are the advantages of steel pipe piles over concrete piles?
Steel pipe piles offer several advantages: higher load-bearing capacity per unit area, ability to penetrate dense soils and obstructions, ease of splicing for deep foundations, lighter weight for handling and transport, immediate load-carrying capability (no curing time), and excellent seismic performance. They can also be driven open-ended or closed-ended depending on soil conditions.
What is EN 10219 for structural hollow sections?
EN 10219 is the European standard for cold-formed welded structural hollow sections of non-alloy and fine grain steels. It covers circular, square, and rectangular hollow sections for structural applications. EN 10210 covers hot-finished structural hollow sections. Both standards specify dimensions, tolerances, mechanical properties, and testing requirements for structural steel tubes.
What sizes of pipe piles are available?
Sino East Steel supplies pipe piles from 8 inches (219 mm) to 120 inches (3048 mm) in outside diameter, with wall thickness from 5 mm to 60 mm. Common sizes for building foundations are 12-36 inch diameter; for marine and bridge piling, 24-84 inch diameters are typical. Lengths up to 80 meters can be supplied through shop welding of sections.
How is structural pipe different from line pipe?
Structural pipe (ASTM A252, EN 10219) is manufactured primarily for load-bearing applications, with requirements focused on yield strength and structural integrity rather than pressure containment. Line pipe (API 5L) is designed for fluid and gas transportation under pressure, with stricter requirements for toughness, weldability, and NDT. Structural pipe may have less stringent chemistry controls but must meet specific structural performance criteria.
What coatings are used on structural and piling pipe?
Common coatings for structural and piling pipe include: coal tar epoxy for buried and submerged piles, fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) for driven piles in aggressive soils, galvanizing (hot-dip) for above-ground structural applications, and paint systems (epoxy, polyurethane) for architectural exposed steel. Splash zone protection with high-build epoxy or polyethylene wrap is critical for marine piling.
